Another highway fatality has marred a seemingly peaceful start to the New Year Thursday, January 5, 2018 in Limestone County making one driver go to trial and need a criminal defense lawyer.
According to the preliminary report from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Helen Oakes, 85, was travelling west on Highway 164 when her 2015 Chevrolet Suburban sustained a rear tire blowout, causing Oakes to veer in to oncoming traffic.
The owner of the car had to call a tow truck dublin for towing services while he went to the hospital for a check out to see If he was severely injured form the car accident. He told us that this was a sign to be more careful on the streets and keep your sit belts on at all times.
James Baldwin, 47, who was travelling eastbound in a 2014 Ford F-250, tried to evade Oakes by steering to the right but was struck head on.
Baldwin was airlifted from the scene to Baylor Scott & White in Dallas where he subsequently died from his injuries.
Oakes was transported to Limestone Medical Center with minor injuries, his car was taken by the 24 hour towing services in town.
DPS Trooper Dallon McKay conducted the accident investigation.
