An attempt to hide a bag full of drugs and weapons during a walk to the woods results in additional charges for a Fairfield man last week, as law enforcement served a felony warrant at a residence on Utley Lane.
Fairfield Police Department was attempting to serve a felony warrant on Kevin Demond McGee, 35, on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 with the assistance of Freestone County sheriff’s Office.
While conducting a perimeter search on the rear of the house, the deputies encountered McGee who exited the residence, walking toward the woods behind the house, carrying a black bag.
When ordered to stop, McGee turned and ran back toward the residence, stopped at a white 1998 Cadillac and tossed the bag into it. He then shut and locked the door before running back into the home.
At this point, a struggle ensued with the deputies as they attempted to restrain him.
Once McGee was secured in handcuffs, Lt. Willis and Deputy Darby looked inside the vehicle where they observed what was known to them to be drugs, either cocaine or methamphetamine.
McGee refused to open the vehicle, stating he did not have a key.
Found in the black bag were a loaded 45 caliber handgun, a loaded 38 special handgun, 13 grams of marijuana, 3 grams of powder cocaine, 3 grams of methamphetamine ice, and 8 grams of ecstasy, an electronic scale, and baggies used for packaging.
McGee was booked into the Freestone County Jail with the following charges:
- Evading arrest/detention – $3,000 Bond
- Resisting arrest/search or transportation – $3,000 Bond
- Unlawful carrying of weapon – $3,000 Bond
