Homecoming is this week at Wortham High School.

Bonfire will be Thursday, October 26th at 8:00 p.m.

Downtown Pep Rally will be held on Friday, October 27th at 2:30 p.m.  Pre-Game Festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Walls.

Homecoming Game kicks off at 7:00 p.m. against Mt. Enterprise; Mr. & Miss WHS will be announced at halftime.

During Homecoming / Red Ribbon week, students will be dressing up, with a different theme each day.  They are as follows:

Oct. 26th – “Fire It Up” – Fired up against drugs!  Wear red, yellow and orange.

Oct. 27th – “Spirit Day” – These paws are drug free!  Wear blue and white

 


 

Introducing Mr. & Mrs. WHS 2017

Kayla Ashlee Lansford and Dylan Martin have been named Miss and Mr. WHS for 2017 Homecoming week.

Kayla Lansford is the daughter of Jennifer and Tracy Lansford.

She plans to attend college to become a Vet Tech, and hopes to further her volleyball career at the collegiate level.

Very active in sports, Kayla is a member of the undefeated Varsity Volleyball team.  She has played the game all four years, being named 1st Team All District and Academic All District during her Sophomore and Junior years.

Kayla has also competed in Varsity Basketball (2 years) making Academic All District her Sophomore and Junior year; Varsity Softball (3 years) being named 1st Team All District – 3rd Baseman her Freshman year; and Tennis (1 year) earning 3rd Place in District for Girls Doubles.

Additionally, Kayla was a member of the Cheer Squad (2 years), serving a Co-Captain her Junior year.

Other activities include Junior Class Vice-President, Yearbook Reporter, FFA (2 years), Spanish Club (2 years), Student Council (1 year), and FCA (1 year).

Kayla’s advice to underclassmen:  “Always be yourself, even when the world tries to change you. Be somebody who makes everybody feel like somebody. Love yourself always. And remember, that with God ALL things are possible.”

Dylan Martin is the son of Rhonda Looney.

Serving as Football Captain, Dylan played with the Bulldog football team all four years.  He earned 2nd Team UIL District Football and Academic All District Football, both during his Junior year.

Other sports include Basketball (3 years), Track (4 years), Baseball (4 years), Power Lifting (3 years), and Tennis (3 years).

Dylan has also been active in FFA all four years of high school.  He was a State Competitor in the FFA Land Judging and competed in State Competition with the FFA Barbecue Team.

This young man has also been a member of the National Honor Society (2 years) and Beta Club (2 years).

Dylan plans to attend A&M University to achieve a Masters degree in Architectural Engineering and build a church in Africa.

His advice to underclassmen: “Always put God first, never give up on your dreams; be strong and courageous no matter what.  Lead by good example, because you represent yourself, your family, your community, and Wortham High School.”
