Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire that resulted in a total loss for the home owner on Tuesday, May 23, 2017.
At about 5:51 p.m. that evening, the fire department was dispatched to a location at 319 Dogan Street in Fairfield with reports of a fully involved fire.
While enroute, word came that an occupant of the home was trapped inside and law enforcement were trying to get him to come out.
Within a few moments of arriving on scene, it was found that the occupant had vacated the home.
At this point, firefighters deployed regular firefighting and suppression operations, utilizing the master stream hose to knock down the majority of the fire that was leaping from the roof and front of the home. They then proceeded to put the rest out using two traditional hose lines.
The fire was completely extinguished within a 30 minute time frame; and mop up operations began to start the fire damage repair.
There were no injuries reported from this fire, though the occupant was taken to Freestone Medical Center on unrelated issues.
Cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
Responding to the scene were Fairfield, Teague, and Dew Fire Departments; Fairfield EMS, Fairfield Police Department, and the Freestone County Sheriff’s Office.
