Scott, Sr. was raised in the shadow of NASA’s Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo astronauts in a quaint Houston area neighborhood popularly known as the ‘Astronauts Village.’

He built a career as President of Computer Floor Corporation, a firm that contracted and constructed computer floors and clean-room systems for clients nationwide.

Scott, Sr. has also devoted years to the stewardship of the historic WX Ranch and its operations in Freestone County, Texas. The ranch traces its roots to a Texas land grant founded in 1837 and remains deeply intertwined with the county’s rich heritage.

Karen inherited a gaggle of cousins when she moved to Freestone County at the age of 12.  In high school, she followed her mother’s footsteps when she became editor of the Fairfield High School newspaper, the Eagle Beat.
 
As co-founder and Editor of The “Times,” Karen wears many hats, including page layout, ad design, reporting, and managing the newspaper’s website.
 
Promoting her hometown, and bringing recognition to the people of Freestone County, Texas is Karen’s main focus.
 
Recently, she brought home a First Place win for the newspaper for Editorials in the annual Better Newspaper Contest, hosted by the Texas Press Association.
