The importance of a change. People feel the need to change by losing weight, saving money, or doing something they couldn’t get done during the year. Why is it that we feel this way at the beginning of a New Year? A New Year is a new opportunity or a fresh start. Why wait until the New Year? If you have a problem making a change throughout the year, it is very likely that the New Year will bring forth no difference. I think that it is awesome to have a New Year resolution, but how long does that resolution last? A change means that something shifts and completely becomes new. A resolution is a plea that a change will take place. We fail because we plan on shifting so drastically that our goals are hard to reach and easier to fail.
What should your resolution of change be? In order to be successful at something, it is good to make a plan of action.
Don’t start by not saying you will lose 50lbs. Instead, say that you will no longer eat bread, sweets, and beef.
Then aim for part two. That may include no longer staying up late. So now, commit to going to bed and waking up at a particular time. After that becomes your normal, move on to part three.
Now, say that you will no longer drink juices and soda pops. Commit to drinking water and only water for at least 21 days because that is how long it takes to make or break a habit.
If you plan in pieces, you will not be overwhelmed and then the success rate will increase. So, this year, make a change and start with a plan of action so that your resolution will become your reality and not a failed attempt at something unreachable. If your goal is too big, you can become discouraged because it will be much harder to reach. Another great way to become more successful is to form a group that are doing the same things. Support is wonderful and can really make a difference.
