“We’re getting the ball rolling on getting infrastructure,” shared David Fowler, President of Fairfield Industrial Development Corporation (FIDC). “Our goal is to have ‘shovel-ready’ sites in the near future.”
Fowler brought several items for consideration before the Fairfield City Council last week, including a petition for voluntary annexation into the city limits for a newly acquired, 75-acre tract of land.
The property, which fronts on the Old Mexia Road, is adjacent to FIDC’s existing Industrial Park. It was purchased last month at public auction, according to Fowler.
Also up for consideration were a lease and a site location agreement, as well as an update to the Board’s Bylaws, which was approved with a few changes.
The update is required to facilitate FIDC’s transition to becoming an Economic Development Board (EDC), which is expected to expand the types of projects and companies the group may pursue.
“It’s just a matter of paperwork,” says Fowler, who expects to announce the official name change soon.
In other business, Council members held several hearings related to property issues during the December 13, 2016 meeting. Action taken was as follows:
