Abigail Bristow, a senior homeschool student from Fairfield, was the winner of the local American Legion Oratorical Scholarship competition held on Saturday, December 10 in Groesbeck. She will advance to District competition on January 14 in Mexia, where she will compete for a $1000 scholarship and a chance to advance to division competition. The oratorical program involves high school students making speeches on various aspects of the U.S. Constitution. Those who make it to national competition compete for an $18,000 scholarship. Abigail is congratulated by Russ Foster, Oratorical Chairman for Post 288, serving Limestone and Freestone counties.
