The theme of the elementary for the two weeks leading up to Christmas vacation is ALL ABOARD!
The old, wooden yellow and black Polar Express train pulled into the roundhouse for good. Mr. Cain declared it was out of active duty and officially retired.
Mr. Cain then called in the jolly librarians, the talented Mrs. Haydon, and the crew of the ever energetic and helpful Maintenance Elves. They immediately had a vision and began constructing a PVC pipe new and improved Polar Express train. When the supplies arrived from the North Pole, the Maintenance Elves secretly gathered in the music room… and the magic began!
Mrs. Haydon was called into conference on numerous occasions to make sure the train met her artistic specifications. She hand painted windows with the help of Mr. Cain that really helped the train come to life.
The Maintenance Elves carefully moved the Polar Express into the library. Mrs. Carol Lacey cleaned out and donated her decorations of Christmas past. Central joined in the fun and made a jolly contribution. Nae-Nae Childs, one of our favorite substitute elves, hooked up several reindeer to her Jeep and delivered her collection of inflatables.
Christmas soon exploded in the library. Monday morning bright and early the first class of students anxiously boarded the Polar Express with much holiday anticipation.
Many other classes and special guest will follow we hope. They will dance, sing and jingle all the way to the North Pole Café to enjoy hot chocolate and snacks.
The Polar Express passengers will take home a silver bell, a train ticket, and we pray…a memory of Christmas that will last a lifetime.
