Dorothy Jeanette Austin, known as Dottie to anyone who met her, went home to be with the Lord on November 17, 2016. A celebration of Dottie’s life was held 2 P.M. Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Capps Memorial Chapel with Pastor Nathan Jones, Director of South Texas Fellowship of Christian Athletes officiating. Interment followed at Fairfield Cemetery.
Dottie was born in Mission, Texas on January 10, 1951. She was the second and only girl, of 4 children to Lorrinne and R.C. (Ted) Morris. She attended Mission High School and graduated in 1969. She subsequently went to Southwest Texas State University and graduated with a degree in Commercial Art in 1973. She moved to Dallas and met her future husband, Larry Ray Austin, through church. Dottie was a true soul mate to Larry. Larry was one of the biggest “cut-ups” around. Dottie not only went with the flow on many of Larry’s antics but was frequently an enthusiastic participant, making life even more fun. They married in 1976 and eventually welcomed sons Kyle and Trevor into their lives. Work for Larry led them to Fairfield, Texas, in 1992 where Dottie was actively involved with First Baptist Church of Fairfield. She taught Sunday school, vacation bible school, and helped with youth program activities. She was also devoted to the Fairfield School district, helping with the band, Odyssey of the Mind, and any parent organization that her children were involved in. While in Fairfield, she worked as a substitute teacher for the junior high and high school, at the law office of Ann Gokey, and at the Fairfield Recorder.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry, mother Lorrinne Morris and father R. C. (Ted) Morris.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Kyle and wife Kristin, son Trevor and wife Christina, brother David and wife Bonnie, brother Jim and wife Lynn, brother Mark and wife Dolores, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and long-time friends.
She was a Godly woman who was cherished, admired, and respected. She was the living example of a good and loving servant. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out, and will be sorely missed.
