For the past few weeks, freshman Belle Johnson (pictured right) has been collaborating with community members to organize “The Tent”.  This event is an all-denomination encompassing spiritual revival meant to gather crowds from all around.  The Tent will be a 48-hour worship and praise service from October 21-23.
“At church camp, I got the idea that we could recreate something similar in Fairfield,” Johnson said.  “I hope that everyone from all different ages and backgrounds can attend to spread His word.”
Johnson went in front of the city council to ask for permission for use of the fairgrounds.  After explaining her plans and intentions, the council decided to grant her permission. After gaining permission from the city, Belle went to work trying to find more adult community members that could help make her dream a reality.
“Belle asked me to meet with her for lunch a few weeks ago about a vision the Lord had given her,” community member Betsy Monico said.  “We sat down and I let her talk. She told me that she envisioned a revival in Fairfield.”
While the event is being help at the W.L. Moody Fair grounds in Fairfield, it is intended for people from all over.  Organizers encourage everyone to invite as many family, friends, and musicians as possible.
“Performers can sign up to fill a time slot at some point throughout the 48- hour period,” Johnson said.  “I was shocked to find out that almost all of the time slots for Saturdays entertainment had been filled up.”
This event is not specific to any one church, but instead it is intended to bring together all of the congregations in the area.
“Sunday night, churches and youth groups are invited to have their worship services at the fairgrounds,” Monico said.  “Sunday morning would be great too.”
The event will begin with fifth quarter after the home football game Friday night against Waco Connally.  After it kicks off on Friday, it will continue on until nine at night on Sunday.
“We will not engage in preaching, political or social agendas, or extended intercession from the stage,” Monico said.  ‘It will be only worship, adoration, and thanksgiving for Jesus.”
Anyone who wants to sign up for entertainment, whether instrumental or vocal, is encouraged to do so.  Families and youth groups are invited to camp out, and on Saturday night there will be a meal served to those in attendance.
“Jesus has blessed me in so many ways, and helped me through so many things,” Johnson said.  “I want to give something back to Him.”
Belle has recruited a few adults to help organize and manage the planning for the event.  Misty Richardson, Betsy Monico, and most churches are all working together to make the revival a success.
“Belle’s obedience and faith inspire me,” Monico said.  “Please begin praying for the Lord to move in a mighty way during this 48 hour praise revival.”
