Celebrating their High School achievements are Wortham’s Valedictorian Joshua Trett Carroll and Salutatorian Case Boone Samford.

 

Valedictorian

“Amazing!” is how Trett feels about earning the top spot of Valedictorian. “I’ve been working for this forever.”

He graduated with a 4.86 GPA

Trett is the son of Josh and Tina Carrol and brother to Ty and Angel Carroll.

During his high school career at Wortham, he participated in (or was a member of) Football (2021-2024), Basketball (2021-2022), National Honors Society (2023-2025), Fellowship of Christian Athletes (2022-2025), Student Council (2021-2023, and UIL (2021-2024).

Outside of school activities, Trett has stayed busy with participating in activities at Tehuacana Methodist Church’s Vacation Bible School.

Hobbies include drawing, working out, and playing video games.

His advice to underclassmen is “Hard work pays off significantly!”

When asked who inspired him, Trett said, “Jesus Christ! He taught me to be kind and soft-hearted to everyone.”

What he most appreciates about Wortham High School is “It’s a place of many opportunities.”

Finally, Trett said, “Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and strength!”

Tretts’s future goal is “Attend college for land surveying because it’s a unique job full of opportunities.”

 

Salutatorian

“It feels amazing!” said Case, when hearing the news that he was Salutatorian of his class. “I am grateful to be blessed with this honor.”

He graduated WHS with a 4.80 GPA.

Case is the son of Eric and Caroline Samford and brother to Cody Beck and Cate Samford.

During his high school years, Case participated in FCA, NHS, HUSA, Spanish Club, Football, Basketball, Track, Tennis, Golf, and UIL (Science, Math, Calculator Applications, & umber Sense).

After hours, Case stayed busy through participating in church activities such as Vacation Bible School, Church Camps, Mission Trips, and Community Service.

Hobbies include fishing and spending time with family and friends.

His advice to underclassmen is, “Enjoy the time you are in high school and make friends with everyone and make connections with administration and teachers.”

Case explained that Mrs. Jillian Fleming was his favorite teacher, “She inspired me to pursue my passions and work hard in my endeavors, regardless of any obstacles in my path.”

When asked what he appreciates most about Wortham High School, Case said, “The admin hires teachers who care and are well-versed in their fields of study, teaching the students to the best of their ability.”

Finally, Case said, “Wortham is a great school with faculty that cares about the wellbeing of its students and staff.”

Case will be attending Pre-Med at UT Tyler, followed by Med School “to become a physician to be able to help those in times of need.”

 

Graduation

Wortham High School commencement was held Friday, May 24, 2025, beginning at 8:00 p.m. in the Gym.
