The 102nd Annual Freestone County Fair and Rodeo is just around the corner.

The week-long event kicks off on Monday, June 10, 2024, with the annual parade through town, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

–Parade

Be sure to get your parade float/entry registered as soon as possible to participate in this year’s event. It is free to participate. Register at https://www.fcfar.org/events-and-activities.

Ages for Best Dressed Cowgirl and Cowboy is 8 and under; they must be able to sit their horse themselves and reside in Freestone County. They can be led by another rider, NO walkers allowed. Kids must be in their line up position by 6:00 p.m. for judging. Winners must ride in the designated entry position with one handler.

–Stick Horse & Bull

Following the parade there will be stick horse and bull races at the Ike Carden Pavilion. At the pavilion, there will be a sign-up table where you will enter your child and they will receive a number and be assigned to an age group. Stick horses and bulls will be available for use, but feel free to bring your own as well. Winners of each group will receive a belt buckle.

–Home & Garden Show

The Freestone County Home & Garden Show is open to all residents of Freestone County. Exhibits must be the work of the contestant and may not have been entered in a previous Freestone County Fair. All project entries must have been completed between June 2023 and June 2024.

A fee of $4 for the first entry and $1 for each additional entry per person is due at check-in. (Ex. 2 items would be $5.) Check in for all entries is on Monday, June 10th between 9:00 am and 11:00 am at the Fairfield Civic Center. Judging will be completed that afternoon.

–Carnival

The carnival will be open from 6:00 p.m. to midnight each day, Monday through Saturday. Tickets will be available at the ticket booth for rides and games.

Unlimited rides bracelets are $30 nightly, except for Tuesday night, when they will be on sale for $25.

–Go Texan Games

Freestone County Area Go Texan Association will be hosting the Go Texan Games.

Horseshoes will be on Monday, June 10th, following the parade.

Washers will be Tuesday, June 11th at 6:00 p.m. and Cornhole will be Wednesday, June 12th at 6:00 p.m.

Entry fee for each event is $20 per person and entry is for in-county participants only.

The events will be held on the west side of the parking area this year, NOT at the backstop.

–Youth & UPRA Rodeos

Ticket costs for both the youth and UPRA rodeos are $10 for 19-years and older, $5 for kids 13-18 years old, and Free for kids 12 and under, according to the FCFR website.

–Youth Rodeo Participants

Entries are now open through June 5th for anyone wishing to participate in the 2024 Freestone County Youth Rodeo. It is open to all youth ages 19 and under. There will be 37 buckles awarded, along with $7,000 all around money and $7,000+ added event money. The event will be held on June 12th beginning at 6:30 p.m. To register, visit https://www.fcfar.org/events-and-activities.

–In-County Rodeo Event Participants

Join the UPRA Rodeo with $1,000 added money for each in-county event.

–Wild Cow Milking – $200:  Nightly

–Mutton Bustin – $40:  7:00 p.m.

–UPRA Rodeo:  8:00 p.m.

–Calk Scramble:  Nightly

–Music

Live music will be available nightly beginning at 8:00 p.m. and there is no cost to enjoy. The line up is as follows: Monday – Peter Sinclair Band, Tuesday – Jacob Gonzales & Logan Allison, Wednesday – Cowboy Church Band, Thursday – The Chaser Crouch Band, Friday – Lanky Moore with Diamondback, and Saturday – Sunny Sauceda.

–Pet Show

The annual Pet Show will be on Saturday, June 15th beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the Ike Carden Pavilion. Bring your pet and let them compete in many categories, such as: best dressed, most unique, looks most like their owner, longest nose, longest tail, longest ears, and many more. Lots of fun for all! Prizes will be given to the winners.
