Three Young Men from Fairfield Recovering from multiple gunshot wounds

Clyde Washington, Jr. has been charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon.

Three young men from Fairfield are recovering from gunshot wounds sustained on Tuesday afternoon, March 18, 2025.

Just before 2:00 p.m. that afternoon, Sargeant Harold Markham of Fairfield PD responded to the corner of Ike Street and South Bateman Road in reference to multiple shots fired.

According to the Officer’s Affidavit, upon arrival, he found the three male subjects, identified as twin brothers Gavarious (Morey) Scott and JaKorey (Korey) Scott, and their friend, Camron (Cam) Daniels laying in the backyard area of 304 Ike Street with multiple gunshot wounds. They were each treated on the scene and later transported by helicopter to hospitals in the Tyler area.

Following a brief investigation of the area, it was determined that multiple rounds of .300 AAC Blackout Ammo, 30-caliber bullets used in automatic rifles, were used to injure the victims. The rounds appear to have been discharged from a moving vehicle.

Due to previous investigations in that area, Corporal Josh Ashley conducted a canvas at a nearby location known to have exterior cameras, and after reviewing the footage captured, was able to identify a bluish/teal colored Toyota sedan fleeing the scene of the shooting, making a left-hand turn onto Barnes Street, traveling West. Cpl. Ashley believed the vehicle to belong to Clyde Washington, Jr., 23, of Fairfield, who resides on S. Bateman, due to having pulled him over on March 3, 2025, and arresting him for a warrant out of Crockett County for a charge of Possession.

According to the affidavit, the next day, District Attorney Investigator, Gary Hammond, and Sgt. Markham traveled to the Tyler hospital and spoke with JaKorey, who advised that the person who shot him and the other two was “CJ” and he appeared to be the only occupant in the vehicle. During the course of the investigation, it was learned that “CJ” is a commonly known nickname for Clyde Washington, Jr.

The pair also learned that JaKorey made a statement to flight medic, Cody Bell. When Bell was contacted, he told investigators that when asked who shot him, JaKorey answered him, saying “CJ.”

That information, coupled with the footage of Washington’s vehicle fleeing the scene, places Washington at the scene of the shooting during the time frame that the shooting occurred.

Later that day, the Fairfield Police Department, with the assistance of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department, arrested Washington, transported him to the Freestone County Jail, and booked him in with three charges of Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon. There are no other suspects at this time.

Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace, Judge Cinnamon Archibald-Gonzales, was Magistrate in this case and gave Washington $500,000 bond per charge.

No motive has been mentioned for this terrible act of violence.
