Fourth of July celebrations will take over the week in Freestone County, beginning with a patriotic parade down Teague’s Main Street on Thursday, and ending with fireworks in Wortham’s Oil City Park next Tuesday.
Here are the main events:
Teague
The Teague 4th of July Rodeo takes over this week with nightly performances starting at 8:00 p.m. on June 29th, June 30th, and July 1st at the Teague Rodeo Arena.
The 93rd annual event will kick off on Thursday evening with a patriotic Rodeo Parade down Main Street at 6:00 p.m.
Make plans to come early for the Teague Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Burger Fundraiser beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Teague Community Center.
Best Dressed Cowboy and Cowgirl contest will be held in conjunction with the parade. Line up will be 5:30 p.m. at the Teague Hotel.
Kids entering must be able to right through the parade with no assistance (no leading). Belt buckles awarded, and winners will be introduced each night of the rodeo.
Local rodeo event entries opened Monday, June 26 and will close at noon on Wednesday, June 28th. Call 254-625-2169 to sign up for:

Senior Ribbon Roping is open to Freestone County residents only. All other events are open to the world.
Additional rodeo events include Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc, Bulls, Tie Down, Breakaway, Barrels and Team Roping.
Mutton Bustin’ performances with be held nightly at 7:00 p.m. A total of 62 kids have signed up to compete on Thursday and Friday. The top five from each night will advance to the Saturday night performance.
Southside Shores
Fourth of July Parade will be held Saturday, July 1st at Southside Shores beginning at 9:00 a.m. Meet at the entrance to Southside Shores off FM 416.
Following the parade, join your neighbors at the Community Center for hot dogs at noon. Please plan on contributing to the lunch, if you have a large group attending.
Bring your own drinks and chairs.

Fairfield
Celebrate the red, white and blue on Saturday, July 1st at the fairgrounds in Fairfield.
There will be fun and games under the pavilion starting at 6:00 p.m. with fireworks show beginning at dark.
Enjoy face painting, Kona Ice, and tune in to Texas 99.1 KNES for the FINAL STOP for the Rock-n-Roll Freight Train show with host Bill Booth.
Event is hosted by the City of Fairfield and Fairfield Chamber of Commerce.
Wortham
Come join the City of Wortham for the ‘4th on Main’ Parade on Tuesday, July 4th.
Bring your wagon, ride your bike, gator, tractor, ATV, mule, motorcycle, horses, make a float, drive your old car, dress up your pet and/or yourself and walk!
All parade registrants should meet at the High School to be put in parade line-up order by 8:30 a.m. The parade will start at 9:00 a.m.
Registration is FREE. Be sure to turn in your registration form by Friday, June 30th to Wortham City Hall or Farmers State Bank in Wortham.
Stay after the parade for fun, community fellowship, hotdogs, chips, water, snow cones and waterslide!
Don’t forget your chairs, towels and Patriotic spirit!
All food and drinks are free for everyone, while supplies last.
Then, head out to the Oil City Park for Unite Celebration 2023, hosted by First Baptist Church of Wortham.
Gates open at 5:00 p.m.
Food will be available with concessions benefiting Wortham Cheerleaders. Baked goods will benefit 2024 Project Grad.
There will be a Kids Zone with water activities, and fun and games.
Home Run Derby will be held at 4:00 p.m. Entry is $20.
Cornhole Tournament will begin at 6:00 p.m. Entry is $20 per team.
Fireworks show will begin at dark, around 9:00 p.m.
Streetman
The 26th Annual Streetman Lawnmower Parade & Celebration will be held Tuesday, July 4th beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Decorated entries line up (Main Street & Hwy 80) at 9:30 a.m. for judging.
Parade route will be extended to pass by as many spectators homes as possible, for those who prefer to watch from their own yards.
There will be lots of FREE fun to follow the parade at the Streetman Fire Station, including a free hotdog lunch (even if the parade is rained out).
This community event is held in honor of the memory of Tommy J. Bryant who started the tradition with a flag attached to his lawnmower.
Donie
First Baptist Church of Donie is hosting the Annual Fourth of July Community Picnic and Cookout, held Tuesday, July 4th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The event features a cookout, a cornhole tournament, and waterslide for the kids.
Join the community on the lawn across from First Baptist Church at 309 Worthy Street in Donie.
