The Grand Opening Tournament at the Disc Golf Course was a huge success this past Saturday, July 11, 2020.
The day was hot and social distancing was in effect with people wearing their mask, but that did not stop the local disc golf community from showing up to play.
The tournament had six different divisions ranging from beginner skill levels all the way up to professionals.
Two adopted locals won the Open division. Coming in first was Casey Wright (the man who helped Andrew Weitner with the courses design) with second being won by Trace Cabaniss who has partly mastered FTX|DGC (Fairfield TX|Disc Golf Course).
Zachary Pratt won the advanced division.
Adrian Lopez and Kyle Payne tied for first in the intermediate division.
Gage Lane and Kyle Moran won first with a tie in the recreational division.
Austin Lane came in third with a three-way tie with Richard Haberman and Robert Garcia.
Hannah Pratt won first, Amber Weitner placed second and Sierra Lane third in the women’s division
Mj Pratt won first, William Artie Mensch won second and Jeremy Shipley won third in the Novice division.
The one and only, Pastor Andrew Weitner won the lone Ace and took home the ace pot.
Weitner commented, “Phenomenal day, very hot but an amazing event! Thank you to everyone involved in making today happen!”
Overall, it sounds like a wonderful start for tournaments at the FTX|DGC.
