Seventeen-year-old Willian’s life changed forever after an electrocution incident in his native country of Honduras. He was flown to the United States for care and doctors were required to amputate his arms and legs.

The Shriners Hospitals for Children in Cincinnati, Ohio provided him with burn care. Then, he was transferred to the Houston Shriners Hospital for his orthopaedic care.

The rehabilitation team in Houston worked with Willian to provide him a new life and adjust him to using a wheel chair, walker, and prosthetic legs. This was done through physical therapy, occupational therapy and recreational therapy. Although sometimes the work was tough, Willian was known for always having a smile on his face and giving it his all through every session.

After hard work and the support of a great team behind him, Willian was able to be discharged from the hospital. He became mobile and was even able to walk on his own prosthetics; however, he kept his other devices as backups.
