CALPINE CORPORATION DONATES $2,000 to the Freestone County Sheriff’s Department toward the purchase of two tasers. Sheriff Jeremy Shipley shared that FCSO is the only agency in the county without anti-lethal options.
Sheriff Shipley says he has been trying to improve equipment and safety for his department however, “sometimes it takes a little help from the outside.”
Currently, the department has a few deputies certified in the use of tasers, a number Shipley hopes to see increase in the future.
“It’s not just for the 37 employees [of FCSO] it’s for all of Freestone County” said Chief Deputy Devin Mowry about the donation.
