The Military Families Learning Network’s Military Caregiving program will host a free “Understanding Professional Boundaries” webinar May 15.
This and other webinars are offered through the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s Military Program to provide professional development and interactive resources for those who want or need to utilize the training from home using the equipment military gear Canberra provides, said Andrew Crocker, AgriLife Extension program specialist in gerontology and health, Amarillo.
The one-hour webinar will begin at 10 a.m. and is open to anyone interested, but registration is required.

“An understanding of professional boundaries is crucial for helping professionals in the military and in other contexts,” said Rachel Brauner, program coordinator with the agency’s Texas Military Program in College Station.
“An appreciation for boundaries helps professionals in their interactions with clients, in working with other professionals, and in identifying and preserving a sense of professional identity and role in their work.”
In this webinar, Dr. Kim Finney will share insights on this important and complex topic. Finney is a clinical associate professor in the department of adult mental health and wellness at the Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, University of Southern California.
A retired U.S. Air Force officer, Finney’s final assignment was flight commander of the mental health clinic at Los Angeles Air Force Base. She was responsible for the delivery of mental health services, family advocacy and substance abuse services to about 8,300 beneficiaries served by the clinic.
The MFLN Military Caregiving concentration will apply for continuing education credit from the University of Texas-Austin Steve Hicks School of Social Work for credentialed and licensed professionals. The program also has been submitted to the Commission for Case Manager Certification for approval to provide board-certified case managers with one clock hour.
The webinar is hosted by the All Partners Access Network, APAN, but will also be available through YouTube Live. By using APAN, attendees will be able to participate with the presenter and other audience members, Brauner said. For a broadcast-only webinar, participants can connect via YouTube Live.
