Three cities in Freestone County had issued a Shelter in Place order as of press time on Monday, March 30, 2020.
Teague signed theirs on Monday, March 23, 2020 with it come into effect on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.
Streetman was next and signed theirs Thursday, March 26, 2020 with it being effective Friday, March 27, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.
Wortham signed theirs on Monday, March 30, 2020 and made it effective the same date at 8:00 p.m.
A Shelter in Place order requires citizens to stay in their homes, and only go out for essential reasons.
Essential includes things such as going to the store to buy household necessities, going to the doctor, or working in an essential job.
Things not included as essential involve things like getting a manicure, shopping for a new outfit, eating in a restaurant, or going to a bar.
While Fairfield, Texas has not issued a shelter in place as of press time, City Administrator Nate Smith urges people to, “to PHYSICALLY distance themselves. Not just at the park or Freestone County, but nationwide.“
Freestone County Sheriff’s Office also is urging people via their Facebook account to “Stay Home – Stay Safe.”
The Freestone County Commissioners Court is meeting Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. and will comply with the Governor’s Executive Order and the Freestone County Disaster Declaration by limiting people in the room to ten.

A very important note, as of press time, The Texas Department of State Health Services listed the following numbers for COVID-19 confirmed cases in the surrounding counties.
