Caney Baptist Church hosted its second annual Back-To-School Bash on Saturday, August 4th, giving backpacks and school supplies to Freestone County children. But the day included much more than just a school supply give-away. Thanks to the support of the Freestone Medical Center, Texas Elite Bikers and all who donated time and money, over 49 children and 20 families received school supplies and a positive kick-off for the new school year.

The day was opened in prayer and a visit from Mrs. Frieda Sinclair and her friend Willie Joe. Mrs. Frieda is a ventriloquist and Willie Joe was a crowd pleaser.

Freestone Medical Center demonstrated health and diet tips for the children. Sheriff Jeremy Shipley from the Freestone County Sheriff’s Department spoke, as well as, Martha Kirgan who covered school etiquette and manners on the playground.

Free haircuts were given by Shirley and Angie Cochran.

Brian Davis and Kevin Davis with the Streetman Volunteer Fire Department gave a tour of one of their fire trucks and taught the children what to do in case of a fire.

A lunch was provided for all who attended, and the day concluded with fun on the waterslide and with snow cones and popcorn. What a blessing to share and show these families the importance of believing in Jesus and asking Him into your life. Caney Baptist Church thanks everyone that attended and volunteered, with special appreciation to the Freestone Medical Center and Sheriff Jeremy Shipley and everyone who made this a great event.
