It seems the faster I go, the more behind I get. I am so far behind in my garden work that it may even be too late to catch up. Sad but true. The days have been windy or wet. The wet days I don’t mind very much because you realize you will be staying inside that day. But the windy days play havoc with trying to do anything outside because while you are out there you can’t do anything that doesn’t come back on you.  I cut the back yard during what felt like a real gale and every time I turned the corner seemed as if I was riding into a blanket of dirt, cut grass, and everything else out there. Some flowers manage to do OK on their own without any help from me… those are the kind I like!

We have been having some days that are neither rainy days nor very windy days but they are dreary days.  Those kinds of days are depressing and throw a whole new light on everything. Today was one of those days. It was rather cool when we got up, and was dreary looking all day until late afternoon. The sun managed to break through the clouds and the picture it threw in our front yard was majestic if not magnificent!! The green grass looked emerald green and there was lots of it as if that little bit of sun made new sprouts of it in an instant. The flowers we could see were brilliant reds and there were some petal pink ones too.

It only lasted for a few minutes but it was enough to change the whole day! The dreariness seemed to vanish and only the beautiful brilliant colors remained. What a blessing the Red Oak Ranch had this day.
