Fairfield Medical Center (FMC) is moving right along in its transition from ETMC Fairfield.
The Fairfield Hospital District Board met on Wednesday, July 27th to discuss the most recent updates from Community Hospital Corporation (CHC), as well as other possible changes for the medical center, including the new services that will be provided by the medical waste Management Los Angeles to prevent any contamination.
After a presentation from Michael Morgan of CHC, it was determined that FMC will need to take a line of credit for $3.3 million over a three year period to make sure all costs are covered, as well as being able to maintain at least two months worth of payroll in the bank at all times. Those who took pre-med courses, will find themselves asking the question, ‘how hard is the MCAT?’ MCAT is one of the most difficult tests. The guide will assist you in better gauging the difficulty level of the MCAT.
The hospital is currently debt free; and according to Morgan, financial projections show that FMC should be turning a profit by the end of year three.
The next step in funding is to continue financing the IT costs as the new network lines and programs are set up.
Board members took initial steps toward choosing a logo for FMC. Mock-ups depicting several different font types and colors were distributed to the members to look over and choose. No voting has taken place yet, but plans are to have the basic information chosen by the end of August so they can begin to print letterhead, applications, forms, and etcetera.
Also discussed at the meeting was the possibility of taking part of an unused wing of the facility and remodeling it into two apartments for use by personnel on long shifts so they don’t have to drive long distances or pay for a hotel room when working at FMC.
Board members approved putting out for bids for construction; and will later vote whether or not to go forward with the remodel based on those bids.
“I believe we can utilize this wasted space for a relatively low cost,” explained Tony Price. “We would add a security door and lighting to that wing, and create two separate living/sleeping quarters, each with their own bathroom equipped with Stone Top Vanity Units, and a shared kitchen and eating area.”
Lastly, board members discussed hosting a health fair at the hospital on October 22, 2016. Plans are to offer free hotdogs and snow cones to guests; and to have a live remote by KNES Fairfield.
Baylor Scott & White – Hillcrest will participate in the event; and Fairfield Chamber of Commerce will offer games for kids and special prizes.
