Freestone County Hosts 4th of July Events

 

Thursday, July 4th is America’s Independence Day, and celebrations are planned throughout Freestone County, Texas.

WORTHAM

Start off on the brick streets of downtown Wortham for their annual ‘4th on Main’ Parade. Bring your wagon, ride your bike, gator, tractor,

ATV, mule, motorcycle, horses, make a float, drive your old car, dress up your pet and walk!

The parade will start at 9:00 a.m.

All parade registrants should meet at the High School to be put in parade line-up order by 8:30 a.m.

Registration is FREE. Deadline to register is July 2nd.

Everyone is invited to join residents (pictured at top) after the parade for fun, community fellowship, hotdogs, chips, water, snow cones and waterslide!

Don’t forget your chairs, towels and Patriotic spirit!

All food and drinks are free for everyone, while supplies last!

STREETMAN

Next, hop over to the small town of Streetman for the 27th annual 4th of July Lawnmower Parade and Celebration.

All are welcome, including lawnmowers, tractors, ATV’s, golf carts, bicycles, vintage cars, horses and more.

No need to register, simply lineup at the corner of Main Street and Highway 30 beginning at 9:30 a.m., parade starts at 10:00 a.m.

Children under 10 years of age, and pets / animals must be accompanied by an adult during the entire event.

Following the parade (and awarding of prizes) will be a FREE lunch at the Streetman Fire Station with hotdogs, chips and drinks.

This annual event is held in the memory of Tommy J. Bryant, who started the tradition with one lawnmower and an American flag.

RICHLAND CHAMBERS AREA

Southern Oaks Property Owners Association is hosting an ‘All You Can Eat’ fish fry beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the clubhouse, located at 111 Southern Oaks Drive.

Everyone is invited. Donations are welcome.

Later in the evening, fireworks shows are planned at several locations along the coastline of Richland Chambers Reservoir that boaters can enjoy.

TEAGUE

The 94th Annual Teague 4th of July Rodeo will officially kick off on Thursday with a patriotic Rodeo Parade down Main Street.

Make plans to come early for the Teague Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Burger Fundraiser beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the parking lot of Citizens State Bank. Always delicious!

Best Dressed Cowboy and Cowgirl contest will be held in conjunction with the parade. Lineup will be 5:30 p.m. at the Teague Hotel.

Kids entering must be able to ride through the parade with no assistance (no leading). Belt buckles awarded, and winners will be introduced each night of the rodeo.

Parade begins at 6:00 p.m. beginning at the West end of Main Street and ending at the Teague Rodeo Arena at 10th Avenue & Cypress Street.

The Teague 4th of July Rodeo will be held nightly on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 4, 5 & 6.

Mutton Bustin’ performances will be held at 7:00 p.m., and Rodeo events beginning at 8:00 p.m.

Local event include Wild Cow Milking, Junior Barrels, Junior Ribbons, and Senior Ribbons.

Additional rodeo events include Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc, Bulls, Tie Down, Breakaway, Barrels, Steer Roping and Team Roping.

Entry is $10 per person 13 years and older.

FAIRFIELD

Enjoy an extra evening of 4th of July celebration with Fairfield’s annual Patriotic Fireworks Show on Friday, July 5th at the Freestone County Fairgrounds.

On site will be Nani’s Kitchen & Catering, Amazing Cravings Jewel’s Way, and Kona Ice, all providing tasty treats.

All Things Arty will also be on the grounds doing face painting for the kiddos.

Be sure to tune into KNES Texas 99.1 for patriotic music during the firework show, which starts at dark (around 9:00 p.m.).
