Freestone Lake & Golf Purchases Grand Champion for $57,000

 

What a year it’s been for the Freestone County Fair Livestock Show Sale.

At the end of the day, total sales were logged in at $570,050 – and that does not include add-ons, which are still being tabulated, but currently sit at $126,290!

This represents a final sale that is down 20.63% from last year’s.

Note: add-on money is still being accepted for all exhibitors; and can now be made online.

During the sale, Mike Daniel of MD Construction was awarded a ‘Lifetime Supporter’ belt buckle in recognition of his 30+ years of supporting the Freestone County Fair and local youth. The organization stated, “He shows up every year, sits in the same place, and quietly supports this annual tradition, but more importantly, our Freestone County kids.”

Shawn Todd of Freestone Lake & Golf (at top) set the tone for the 2024 Livestock Show Sale with a winning bid of $57,000 for the Grand Champion Steer, exhibited by Arden Ellen Strait of Fairfield FFA. This is $23,000 more than last year’s Grand Champion Steer!

Arden chose to donate $5,000 of her winnings to distribute amongst the Reserve Champion Steer and other Grand Champion Animals.

The winning bids continued as the Grand Champion Sheep, exhibited by Cole Coufal of Fairfield 4-H, went to Freestone County Farm Bureau and Freestone County 4-H Adult Leaders for $13,500.

Grand Champion Swine, exhibited by Cayson Barlow of Freestone Community 4-H, sold to Horseshoe Energy, Inc for $10,000.

Grand Champion Goat, exhibited by Kenna Coufal of Fairfield 4-H, with a winning bid of $9,000 to Horseshoe Energy, Inc.

The Grand Champion Rabbits, exhibited by Brailey Keeney of Fairfield FFA, went to Brookshire Brothers Group and Fairfield Young Farmers with a winning bid of $5,500.

And, the Grand Champion Poultry, exhibited by Kaedyn Ovalle of Teague FFA, sold to Efficient Insulation Systems for $4,500

In total, the Grand Champion animal projects brought in $99,500.

Horseshoe Energy, Inc put in a winning bid of $15,000 for the Reserve Champion Steer, exhibited by Rhaina Emmons of Fairfield 4-H.

Reserve Champion Sheep, exhibited by Ella Coufal of Fairfield 4-H, sold to Nelson Propane and Freestone County 4-H Adult Leaders for $5,500.

Freedom Auto Group purchased the Reserve Champion Goat, exhibited by Brynlee Scott of Fairfield 4-H, for a winning bid of $5,500

The Reserve Champion Swine, exhibited by Ayden Martin of Teague FFA, sold to Texas Farm Bureau for $4,500.

The Reserve Champion Poultry, exhibited by Gracie Brown of Freestone Community 4-H, sold to McSwain Real Estate for $3,000.

And, the Reserve Champion Rabbits, Heidi Bailes of Fairfield FFA, was purchased for $3,000 by Fairfield Yount Farmers.
