Malcolm Mims Wood, 86, of Fairfield, died Friday, December 23, 2016 in Fairfield.  Services were held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Ramsey officiating.  Interment followed at Fairfield Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Sheldon Williams, Drew Williams, Charles Wood, John Wood Richter, Steve Wilson and Chris Schultz.  Honorary bearers were S. R (Dickie) Hill, Jr. Bill Minchew, Roy Casey, Jr. and Frank Morton 
Malcolm was born June 20, 1930 in Houston, TX to parents Mims M. and Mary Catherine Christopher Wood.  He graduated in 1949 from Fairfield High School and later attended Sam Houston State University.  Malcolm served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1950 to 1954.  He was the owner of Wood Appliance Service in Fairfield.  He was past President of Fairfield Rotary Club and Past President and board member of the Fairfield I.S.D. from 1972 to 1987.  Malcolm was a member of First Baptist Church and served as a Deacon from 1973 to 2016.  During the 1970’s Malcolm served his community as a volunteer fireman.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, William (Bill) Richard Wood and James Donald Wood.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Kaye Wood; children, Robert Mims Wood of Fairfield; Helyn Kaye Williams and husband Sheldon of Fairfield; two grandchildren, Anna Kaye Williams and Andrew (Drew) John Williams; two sisters, Mary Lois Adams of El Campo, TX; Jane Tackett of Doniphan, MO; a brother, Joe Neal Wood of Fulshear, TX; dearly loved cousins, Sharon Wilson and Charles Wood; numerous nieces and nephews.
Malcolm loved and served his Savior, family, church and community well.  It was truly his ministry to serve this county by servicing your appliances and keeping them running.
