PCT will hold Open AUDITIONS for Little Shop of Horrors: The Musical Saturday, January 20, at 10:00 AM at the historic Texas Theatre, 213 W. Crawford in downtown Palestine. Performances for this production will be April 6-8 and 13-15, and PCT veteran, Michael Cook, will be directing.

Please come prepared to sing a portion of a song from the Musical Theatre genre and do a cold read. Those auditioning will have the ability to play accompaniment tracks from a phone, iPod, or other electronic device with a headphone jack. Singing without accompaniment (a cappella) is not recommended. An upright piano is available for your use–an accompanist is not provided.

It’s the story you know and a movie you’ve likely seen. Meek flower shop assistant, Seymour, pines for co-worker, Audrey. During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant he then names Audrey II, but this plant feeds only on human flesh and blood.

The growing plant attracts a great deal of business for the previously struggling store at which Seymour works, so what can he do? After Orin, Audrey’s boyfriend accidentally dies, Seymour feeds him to the plant, but that only serves to increase Audrey II’s appetite, and Seymour must come up with more bodies for the increasingly bloodthirsty plant. Hmm, what a conundrum!

Tickets for the April performances are $15 for adults and $10 for students ages 4-18 and are available online now at our website (www.thetexastheater.com/ticket-info.html) or at our local ticket vendors (Palestine Chamber of Commerce, Palestine Visitors Center, Blake Furniture, and Discount Pools) one month prior to the show.
