The Teague Lions built a 42-7 halftime lead and coasted to a 49-13 win over the Whitney Wildcats.  Teague continues to keep pace in the district standings at 4-0 along with the Malakoff Tigers.
The Wildcats never made this a game.  Whitney scored on a long touchdown pass but the Lions offense took control throughout.
The Lions scored 21 points in the second quarter to blow the game out.  Antonio Heard threw a pair of touchdown passes, one a 36-yard scoring strike to a wide open Tyrese Heard.  He was ejected later in the game for an altercation with a Whitney player.  Both players were ejected.
Heard threw his second touchdown pass to Anthony Weathers for a 30-yard score.
The rushing offense also had a big night with Tayvis Coleman returning to the lineup.  He had 73 yards on only five carries and two touchdowns.  Jacovy McWilliams has been the workhorse in the Lion rushing attack and he logged 121 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown.  Dayveon Dixon came on late and scored a rushing touchdown.
The Malakoff Tigers defeated Palestine Westwood 46-13 and remained tied with the Teague Lions for the top spots in District 9-3A Division I.  Malakoff plays West on Friday and the Lions host Groesbeck in the homecoming game that occurs every other year at Teague High School.  The two teams play in Malakoff on October 28 in a game that has been greatly anticipated for the last three seasons.
