April 1, 1951 – November   21, 2017

Larry Raymond Ivy passed away unexpectedly on November 21, 2017 at the age of 66 in Austin, Texas.

He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He deeply valued the many close relationships he held throughout his life.

Larry was born April 1, 1951, in Corsicana to Raymond and Marlene Ivy.

He attended Jackson High School, in Jackson, Alabama. He continued his education at Navarro Junior College in Corsicana and then the University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education.

In 1980, after teaching and coaching at Athens High School for 6 years, he and his wife moved   back to Austin where he began his 30+ year career at Manor High School. While at Manor, Coach Ivy was involved in almost every sport, ending as head boys varsity track coach, JV football head coach, and assistant varsity football coach. Through those years, he taught history, government, and economics.

With a solid faith in Jesus Christ, he was active in his church, doing everything from leading committees to mowing the grass. He served as deacon for more than 30 years in four different churches, ending with Hillcrest Baptist Church.

He spent his retirement years traveling, playing golf, assisting with elections in the Travis County Ballot by Mail Division, driving for Uber and Lyft, and playing with his grandchildren.

He also worked at the Dell Diamond in the Fun Zone where he truly enjoyed visiting with former students when they stopped by. He was always willing to help others and offer a word of encouragement.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne Ivy of 43 years, parents Raymond and Marlene Ivy of Fairfield TX, brother Garry Ivy of Kilgore TX, son Kevin Ivy and finance Jennifer Bonner of Leander TX, and son Keith Ivy and wife Sophie Ivy of Katy TX, and grandchildren Zoe and Zane Ivy of Lufkin TX, Landon, Eli and Austin Ivy of Katy TX, and Janice Corbin of Leander TX, in addition to several nieces and nephews.
