Competing in the Fairfield Tournament this past weekend, the Wortham Lady Bulldogs finished with a win against Madisonville.

–Thursday, Aug. 10th

Bracket Play:

Wortham lost to Corsicana 25-14 and 25-21

Wortham then lost to Ennis 25-19; won the second game 25-23 then fail short 29-27.

Wortham then played Hemphill and won in two 25-17 and 25-19.
–Friday, Aug. 11th

Wortham beat Mildred in four games this night: Wortham 25-23, Mildred 25-17, Wortham 25-22, Wortham 25-12

Leading in offense was Kayla Lansford with 28 kills, and 5 blocks.  Ashley Mao also was strong with 12 kills and 2 blocks.  Rylee Goolsby stepped up with 4 kills and 3 blocks.  Jayde Hamilton had 4 aces, one block and lead in assists with 11 along with Darcy Taylor with 6.

Defense kept Wortham on top with Libero Hallie Fautt having 14 digs. Skylar Phillips, Samantha Wright, Jayde Hamilton and Megan Whaley all had four digs to help out the Lady Bulldogs defense.

–Saturday, Aug. 12th

Wortham played Edgewood and lost in two 17-25, 17-25

Wortham ended the tournament beating Madisonville in two games 25-18, 25-11

Kayla Lansford lead with 30 kills, 7 blocks, and three aces. Ashley Mao also lead at the net with 18 kills and 3 blocks. Rylee Goolsby helped with 5 kills and 2 blocks along with Samantha Wright and Skylar Phillips having 3 kills apiece.

Setters Jayde Hamilton and Darcy Taylor assisted the offense with Jayde having 17 assists
and Darcy having 9 assists.

Libero Hallie Fautt had 14 digs along with Megan Whaley have 6 digs.

Wortham started out slow this morning against Edgewood but really came together during the Madisonville match. We had a much better passing game and communication during the Madisonville match. Wortham ham will travel to Valley Mills on Tuesday and then attend the Leon tournament Thursday-Saturday.
