Visitation for Brad Wood, 60, will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague.
Mr. Wood passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017, at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco.
He was born in Vernon, Texas on June 30, 1956, and grew up there. Brad entered numerous rodeos in his younger days with his best friend, Eddy Lee, and was an accomplished bull rider. He married Debbie on May 28, 1977, and shared over thirty-nine years of marriage together. Mr. Wood worked in the oil & gas business for many years and settled in Fairfield in 2001. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and owned B.W. Taxidermy for thirty years. Mr. Wood enjoyed taking camping trips with his family in his 5th wheeler, going to NASCAR races, and loved crawfish boils. He was an excellent cook and his family considered him a “Cajun at heart”. Mr. Wood was a Christian man and loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Wood of Fairfield; two sons, J. D. Wood & wife Crystal of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Cody Wood & wife Natalie of Teague; three grandchildren, Jacob Wood, Emily Wood, and Landon Wood; “sons,”Allen Burson of Benton, Louisiana, and Andy Burson of Haughton, Louisiana and Mike Doyle of Alb; other relatives and friends.
Mr. Wood was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Wood; his father, Jacob Deb Wood; and his mother, Annie Oneta Wood.
The family will be having a crawfish boil to celebrate Brad’s life at a later date.
