While preparing this Newsletter, I was informed that Lloyd passed away today, DOD 2/25/2017.
Pittman, Lloyd E., 1092 2nd Lt. 0-830693, AC 857th/858th BS, Pilot B-24
Lloyd will be truly missed.  Not only was he a great pilot, he was a great man, and a great CARPETBAGGER.  He never missed a reunion.  Even when he had to be in a wheelchair, John Martin would drive him and his brother Wayne from his home in Georgia to wherever our reunion would be.
Thank you, John, for being such a good friend.
Lloyd Pittman’s crew appear 23 times in the Late Period Log.  Shortly after VE-Day they left for Trondheim, Norway to deliver NORSO troops.  Approaching the Norwegian coast, engine trouble developed and they chose to land on a small island that had a runway built for German fighters.
