fisd_edu_foundation_gala_comedian_dorie_mclemore_030817“Just by being here you are supporting the FISD Education Foundation,” says board president Brian Evans at the foundations Gala held Friday, March 3, 2017.

The event, held at Depot X in Fairfield, included a delicious meal, door prizes, an auction and raffle, and the highlight of the evening was given by stand-up Christian comedian Dorie Mclemore.

During the auction, three winners took home an FHS Football Home Game Parking Pass, complete with their own parking spot and sign. These lucky guys were Chad Morgan ($300), Jeff Nelson ($200) and Brian Evans ($300).

fisd_edu_foundation_gala_marlon_cockerell_with_cake_030817A Chocolate Italian Cream Cake with Chocolate Ganache, donated by Momma Cakes, was auctioned off twice. The first round went to Chad Morgan for $300, who donated it back to be purchased a second time by Demar Hill for $250.

Chad Morgan once again came through with a $1,000 bid to win an All District Sports Pass for him and his family members. This pass gets them into any high school game, any sport, home or away.

Monies raised by this event totaled close to $9,000 and will go toward offering grants to Fairfield teachers to help build their teaching programs.

“We want our schools to be on the cutting edge,” says Evans.  “Things that used to be a luxury have now become a necessity to keep our students equipped for the future.”

Over the past two school years, the foundation has given close to $20,000 in grants to various school programs; with plans to provide up to $10,000 in grants per school year.
