The peach festival has returned to Fairfield, Texas.

Live music, contests, games, shopping, food, and fun are all on tap for this two-day event.

The Fuzzy Peach Festival will kick off this Friday, July 19th with live music and a STREET DANCE on the Courthouse Square in downtown Fairfield, Texas.

Gospel singer, Don Thornton, is slated to sing from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and local favorite, Lanky Moore, will perform from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.

Beer-only sales will be available prior to Lanky Moore taking the stage, at approximately 7:00 p.m.

There will be a roped-off area on Keechi Street near Commerce (Hwy 84) for beer sales. This area complies with TABC regulations, prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages within a certain distance of public schools, churches, or public hospitals.

No outside alcohol will be allowed during this event.

The Fuzzy Peach Festival coincides with Fairfield Fest. Downtown Market vendors are invited to set up early for the Friday evening festivities.

The second day’s events will begin with a COLOR RUN on Saturday, July 20th taking off from the Courthouse Square at 8:00 a.m.

Go for a walk or a run and get doused with colored chalk along the way.

This 3K race is not timed. It’s just for fun.

Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. Cost is $30 and includes bib number, sunglasses, and finisher medal.

There will be four chalk stations. Sonic of Fairfield will provide water at a halfway point.

The Color Run is sponsored by Freestone Medical Center. All monies that exceed expenses from the race will be donated to the Freestone Cancer Support Group.

LITTLE MISS PEACH PAGEANT will be held on July 20th at 10:00 a.m.

Dress code for the pageant is cute, sassy & comfy. Categories include 3-6 years and 7-10 years.

A Fuzzy PEACH COOKERY CONTEST, sponsored by the Fairfield History Club, will be accepting entries from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Masonic Lodge, located on the square at 120 Keechi Street.

Entry forms will be available at the festival.

Contest will be open to all ages. Age divisions are Youth (16 & under) and Adult.

Categories include: Cake, Pie / Cobbler, Other Desserts, and Ice Cream.

Cost is $5 per entry. Judging will begin at 12:10 p.m., and winners will be announced by 1:30 p.m.

Best of Show will be awarded, as well as cash prizes.

LIVE MUSIC during the Saturday festivities will begin with Cornerstone Full Gospel Church at 9:00 a.m.; Tin Top Road from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; and music by Peter Sinclair and Alysa Carrezales from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

ICE CREAM EATING CONTEST will be held at 11:00 a.m.

HULA HOOP CONTEST will be at 3:00 p.m.

Additional GAMES & ACTIVITIES will be provided by Cornerstone Full Gospel Church, United Methodist Church, River of Life Worship Center, New Life Assembly of God, Round Prairie Baptist, Calvary Baptist Church, Citizens State Bank, Faith Academy, and Freestone & Lone Star Autoplex.

FOOD VENDORS for the weekend will include Fairfield Police Association, Fairfield Cub Scouts, Kona Ice, Fairfield Shaved Ice, PJ’s Good Eats, Butchers Choice, and Annie Mae’s.

Also during the festival, a PEACH STROLL will be hosted by downtown retailers, who will be serving peach-related food and drink to their customers during the weekend festival. Stop by the Chamber tent for a list of retailers serving refreshments, as well as the special weekend sales being offered.

Vendors for FAIRFIELD FEST – DOWNTOWN MARKET will be set up on the square from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Official event T-SHIRTS, sporting a locally designed logo, will be sold at the festival, while supplies last. If you would like to purchase a t-shirt prior to the event, contact the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce at 903-389-5792.

Festival-goers may also pick up complementary koozies and cardboard fans with the Fuzzy Peach logo. Just stop by the Chamber tent.

The Fuzzy Peach Festival is being hosted by the City of Fairfield and Fairfield Chamber of Commerce. It is made possible by the hard work, and involvement, of many volunteers and members of the community.
