SURPRISED WITH A CHECK on Monday, March 20, 2017 is Fairfield Jr. High Librarian, Tammy Gawryszewski.

REGION 12 EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, Jerry Maze, presents a grant in the amount of $9,999.00 to Fairfield Junior High Librarian, Tammy Gawryszewski, to help fund virtual reality activities. With them is Fairfield ISD Deputy Superintendent, Melissa Cox, who was fundamental in helping with the grant writing process.

The Education Service Center Region 12 Technology Foundation will award nine school districts with nearly $70,000 in grant funds to support oneclickpower technology programs. The new technology projects chosen came from a pool of nearly 50 applications.

Round one of these surprise visits to teachers and others took place Monday, March 20 and include Aquilla, Hillsboro, Whitney and Fairfield.

–Aquilla Elementary received nearly $4,800 to increase reading fluency in elementary classrooms through integrated technology.

–Hillsboro ISD’s elementary campus received $9,800 for their project that plans to increase mathematics and critical thinking skills through computer coding and programming apps and tools.

–With their submission, “Maker Spaces!”, Whitney ISD’s intermediate campus received $7,448 to create engineering/agricultural and artistic maker spaces that will allow students to create and explore ideas through research, invention and design activities.

Fairfield Junior High in Fairfield ISD received $9,999 for their project that will incorporate a shared Google Expedition Virtual Reality Kit to allow students in grades 3-8 to gain knowledge, real world experiences and make connections in all subjects through virtual reality activities.

Since its creation in 2012, the ESC Region 12 Technology Foundation has awarded nearly $280 thousand to 31 school districts and two charter schools in Central Texas .
