The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 1191 held its monthly meeting at the Grand Ennis Buffet in Ennis on Tues., 12 Dec 2017.

The guest speaker was Angeline Juenemann, Financial Advisor with Edward Jones in Ennis. Ms. Juenemann has been associated with Edward Jones for 14 years.

The speaker addressed a change in Dept of Labor regulations effective 9 Jun 2017. This change helps to ensure that financial advisors act in the best interests of their clients by meeting a fiduciary standard in advising on retirement accounts.

While the new regulation applies specifically to retirement accounts, it was noted that putting the best interests of clients first has always been the approach taken by Edward Jones.

Ensuring that a retirement strategy meets individual needs, goals and preferences was stated as central to their customer relations A question and answer session followed the very interesting presentation.

In addition to the guest speaker, NARFE Chapter 1191 elected officers for 2018 were installed by Charles Graffam, Northeast Area Vice Pres. of Texas NARFE.

These officers include James Whitfield, Sec.; Ed White, Treas.; Al Loviscek, 2nd Vice Pres.; Steve Armstrong, 1st Vice Pres.; and Rex Carey, Pres.

Also, the NARFE Chapter annual food drive was conducted. Food and financial contributions were accepted for donation to Waxahachie Care.

Waxahachie Care provides counseling, food and financial assistance.

NARFE Chap. 1191 covers Ellis, Navarro and adjacent parts of the surrounding counties.

Membership in NARFE is open to all active and retired federal employees and their spouses, former federal employees, and former spouses who are entitled to a federal survivor annuity.
