The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5872 of Fairfield held its December 2017 meeting on December 5th at Sam’s Restaurant.

The main topics of discussion were the Post’s plans to deliver service to Freestone County Veterans in the new year and to participate in the upcoming Pearl Harbor Day activities on December 7th.

Post members also agreed that in 2018, the Post meeting would continue to be held at Sam’s on the usual dates and time which are the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

Roger Brooke, the Post Commander, extended an invitation to any veteran in Freestone County who has had combat service in the military, to attend the Post meetings.

Commander Brooke added “We appreciate the sacrifice that all veterans made to keep our country free and we are honored to support our fellow veterans whatever their needs may be.

In the coming year, we plan to redouble our efforts in direct service to veterans as well as to increase our efforts in service to the community at large.”
