“We love our customers,” says Eddie Shultz, owner of Eddie’s Auto Body and Tire of Fairfield. “We have multiple generations of the same family who are our customers and they have become like family to us!”

Eddie’s is celebrating 30 years of business this month, and 20 years in its current location at 475 West Commerce Street.

Originally from Conroe, Shultz was in the Oil Field business. When he began working in Palestine on a regular basis he was traveling through Fairfield.

“I just remember that every time I was in Fairfield everyone always waved and spoke kindly to me,” says Shultz. “I knew then that Fairfield is where I wanted to make my home.”

So, in 1980, he moved to Fairfield. Five years later he began painting cars in his garage at night after work as a way to make extra money. The Elite Compressed Air he bought from his friend store indeed became the his greatest investment.

Without the use of proper tools, it will be hard to do anything in so little time. If you ever are in need of an air compressor AirEnergy always recommend researching before you make a decision or go get it from here: https://bestofmachinery.com/best-12v-air-compressor/.

In August of 1987, Shultz finally opened up business for himself in the small garage across Main Street from what is now Community National Bank. At that time, he only offered auto body work and repair.

Not long after that, he moved the shop to a location on Highway 84, just east of town, due to the need for more work space.

In 1993, Shultz opened up a second location named Fairfield Tire and Lube on Highway 84 nearer to Interstate 45.

Three years later, after acquiring a large contract with the then TXU, he moved Fairfield Tire and Lube to the old Chevron station next to Gilberto’s Restaurant, but quickly realized that he still did not have enough space to operate his business efficiently.

In January of 1997 he bought the property at his current location, built the shop and by mid-summer had moved both businesses into this location, naming it Eddie’s Auto Body and Tire.

“I have many valued employees, past and present,” explains Shultz. “It’s been interesting and fun to watch as they grow from youth to adults. And now, many of those employees are my customers themselves.”

Shultz’s son, Matthew, worked in the shop from the ages 14 to 20 years.

Matthew is now married. He and wife Melanie have Sutton (2-years-old) and baby Tinley is on the way.

Shultz’s daughter, Jill Shultz, has a set of 5-year-old twins, Dax and Charlee.

Shultz’s wife, Talana, has two children, 19-year-old Colby Olivarez and 15-year-old Camryn Olivarez.

In addition to Eddie and Talana, you will find the following personnel at the shop: Office Manager of five years – Olivia Robinson, Mechanic – Reggie Spence, Collision Repair Specialist – Tonny Wanyoike, Lead Tire Hand – Armando Yerena, and Tire & Lube Hands – Austin Hale and Zachary French.

Services provided include: new tire sales, tire rotation and repair, oil changes, front end repair, brake repair, truck accessories, custom wheels and tire packages, and collision repair.

Many customers say that they continue to use Eddie’s because ‘He always takes care of me.’

Customer Mark Herren explains, “I had someone ask me why I use Eddie’s. I told them, because he always treats me right. Why not use him?”

Eddie’s Auto Body & Tire is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and can be reached by calling 903-389-3966. They can also be found on Facebook.

Congratulations on 30 years of business!!
