Early Voting in the Primary Elections began this week and will run through Friday, March 2, 2018.

Several offices are up for re-election this year.

Nationally, Senator Ted Cruz and District 17 Representative Bill Flores are both unopposed in the Republican Primary.  The will each face a Democratic opponent in the General Election, come November.

Several State offices will be on the ballot, with several candidates from each party.  They include that of Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Commissioner of the General Land Office, Commissioner of Agriculture, Railroad Commissioner, Places 2, 4, and 6 on the Texas Supreme Court, Presiding Judge of the Court of Criminal Appeals, along with Place 7 Judge, and 87th District Judge.

Also open at the State level is the position of State Senator – District 5, held by incumbent Charles Schwertner; and State Representative – District 8, currently held by Byron Cook, announced his retirement following the end of this term.
