Funeral services for Doug Oliver, 52, were held on Friday, August 19, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Salem Cemetery near Freestone.
Dale Taylor officiated. Interment followed services at Salem Cemetery.
Visitation was held prior to the services on Friday at 9:00 a.m. There was no visitation at the funeral home.
Mr. Oliver passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016, at his residence in Laneville, TX.
He was born in Mexia on September 9, 1963, and grew up in Wortham, where he graduated from Wortham High School in the class of 1982.
Doug worked as a cowboy all of his life. All he ever wanted to do was be a cowboys and rodeo. He worked as a bullfighter for many rodeos in his lifetime. He also enjoyed working with leather. Doug was known as a jokester and prankster and his talent in storytelling.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Oliver of Laneville; four children, Amy Willard & husband D. J. of Streetman, Lane Oliver of Arlington, Jacob Oliver of Lorena, and Kailin Oliver of Laneville; two grandchildren, Makenzi Willard and Brandtly Willard; his father, Gilbert Oliver & wife Nancy of Teague; one sister, Reba Cantrell & husband David of Corsicana; numerous other relatives and friends including special friends, Dale, Lana, Cody, and Brad Taylor.
Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Oliver.
