A few of track athletes in Freestone County qualified for regional track meets.  Teague area athletes will head to Hart Patterson track complex in Waco at Baylor University and Wortham area runners will take to Palestine High School.  All meets are next weekend.

Teague Lady Lion Lizette Aguilera was a big winner in the area meet last week with a second-place finish in the 1600-meter run.  The event was won by Erin Derden of Rice.  She also finished second in the 3200-meter run also won by Derden.

Teague Lady Lion Kylie Persons finished fourth in the 100-meter dash.

Monica Guerrero took a fourth-place finish and was two inches shy of third in the shot put.  Macy Guerrero finished third in the triple jump.

The Lady Lion sprint relay finished third in a close race behind Malakoff and Palestine Westwood and fourth in the 4×200 behind Westwood, Elkhart and Malakoff.

Jaquaylin Daniels sprinted to a photo finish in the 110 meter hurdles.  Dawson Adams of Buffalo edged Daniels by 0.04 of a second.

Jaylon Davis was second in the 400-meter dash in an event won by Crane Cash of Leon.  He finished fourth in the triple jump as well.

Maverick Jewell took third in the 200-meter dash. Tra’gary Mcquirter finished third in the 300 meter hurdles.  Marcus Williams qualified with a fourth-place finish in the shot put and discus.

The Teague sprint relay finished second behind Malakoff and another second in the 4×200 behind Elkhart and third in the mile relay behind Malakoff and Elkhart.

In the Wortham area meet, Joe Joe Williams of Bremond was the highlight as he won the 100, 200, and 400 meter runs in dominating fashion.

Kemontrell Jackson of Wortham finished fourth in the 200 meter and will advance to the regional meet in Palestine.  Ryan McDaniel finished fourth in the 110 hurdles just barely missing third behind Charlie Adamick of Crawford.  McDaniel also took a third-place finish in the discus.

In the girls’ division, Ca’Purnika Galbert of Mart, like Williams from Bremond, dominated the 100, 200, and 400 meter races.

Zaria Oates of Wortham was the local highlight with a win in the triple jump.  She jumped  past Ilexus Williams of Mart with a regional qualifying jump of 33’ 9”.    She also qualified in the 100-meter dash with a third-place finish.

Freshman Nikki Boney finished fourth in the 3200-meter run.  Dillard Hannah of Valley Mills won the event in dominating fashion with a time of 12:12.
