The outdoor burn ban has been lifted for Freestone County as of Wednesday, December 20, 2017. The ban has been lifted until further notice.

When a burn ban IS in effect, ALL outdoor burning is prohibited. Violations are considered a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars.

A burn ban order, signed by the Freestone County Commissioners Court, does not prohibit outdoor burning activities related to public health and safety that are authorized by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

These exceptions include:

–firefighter training

–public utility, natural gas pipeline or mining operations

–planting or harvesting of agricultural crops

–burns conducted by a prescribed burn manager
