Charles Franklen Lopez, Sr. was born on October 10, 1941 in Maysfield, TX in Milam County to Amil Lopez Sr. & Lillie Smith Lopez. He was the first member of his family to graduate High School in Milano TX. He married his high school sweetheart Marjorie Jane Hurt on August 31, 1963. They moved to Fairfield Texas in 1971 with the Texas Utilities Mining Company and began their new life in Freestone County. Charles was a dedicated member of the Fairfield Church of Christ and served in many roles including a deacon and longtime elder of the congregation. Charles was a devoted Christian and had a tremendous love for his church family.

He enjoyed his work at the power plant and also the life of a cattleman on his ranch. He loved

raising cattle, growing hay in his fields and working with the soil to grow his gardens. He was preceded in death by his parents Amil Sr & Lillie Lopez, and his brother Tommy McQueen and three sisters, Lillie Mae Eickenhorst, Bernice Holloway, and Doris Jones. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Margie Hurt Lopez of Dew, TX and their three sons Charles F Lopez, Jr (Chuck) and his wife Tammy of Dew TX, Troy Allen Lopez and his wife Kris of Sulphur Springs, TX, and Jonathan Dwayne Lopez and his wife Kim of Ft. Worth, TX.

Eight grandchildren, Chelsea Curry and her husband Hunter, Melissa Lopez, Ty Lopez, Elizabeth Lopez, Sydney Washburn, Sadie Washburn; Clayton Lopez and Kayce Lopez.

Brothers Amil Lopez Jr of Rockdale TX, Phillip and his wife Sarah Lopez of Peoria AZ, Billy Dean Lopez of Calvert TX, Eddie McQueen of Sanger TX and many nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be Friday, July 14, 2017 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm in Fairfield. Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Saturday, July 15th at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel, Fairfield. Burial will follow at Dew Cemetery.
