Funeral services for Charles (Charlie) D. White, 64, of Teague, were held on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Bro. Carl Clark officiated. Interment followed at Dew Cemetery.

Charlie passed away on July 2, 2018 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston after a months-long courageous battle with cancer.

Charlie was born on October 12, 1953, in Teague, to parents Charles R. and Gloria White.

He is survived by his mother, Gloria; sister Linda and husband Wayman; four children, David White and spouse Monique, Joseph White, Rhianna Griffin and husband Chris, and Dylan White; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and loved ones.

He was also proud grandfather to Araya White, Samuel (Sammy) White, and Keller Griffin, all of whom will miss his love, jars of saved change, and “head scrubs.”

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles, and beloved grandparents Edwin and Ruby White.

Charlie was a wonderful father, son, and friend to many. He was a “doer.” He was often quiet and reserved, but his actions spoke volumes about his love and devotion to his family and friends. If you needed something done, he did it. If you needed something fixed, he fixed it. He never had to be asked to carry the weight or lend a hand; it was just part of his nature to do so.

He was a longtime employee of Nucor Steel, working at their Jewett mill for more than 40 years. He also leaves behind many co-workers and friends who were much like family.

The family asks that memorials be made to either MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston online at www.mdanderson.org or to the Freestone Cancer Support Group, P.O. Box 1522, Fairfield, TX 75840.
