Eagle Football Ready to Start New Season

The Fairfield Eagles football season began in the hot beginning of August and look to improve on a 2-8 season. Last season, the Fairfield Eagles and the Mexia Blackcats missed the playoffs together for the first time since 1995 and it has never happened in back-to-back seasons. Even with improvement by both teams, it would be difficult to get into the postseason. The Eagles will take to the field on Friday in Madisonville to take on the Mustangs in scrimmage action. Fairfield will see some new faces on the field, meaning they are the same faces just a year older. They will be playing some young players that were forced into action when injuries plagued the 2016 campaign. Fairfield will move to the second scrimmage on Thursday, August 24 in Waco when they face the Gatesville Hornets before the regular season opener at Eagle Field against the LaVega Pirates. Head coach and athletic director John Bachtel talked of the expectations, “I am excited about the upcoming season. Our kids have really been working hard during strength and conditioning camps.” The Eagles had the annual 7-on-7 squad qualify for the state tournament and advanced to the championship bracket for the first time in school history. They won the pool games but lost early in the bracket but definitely made a terrific showing. Mexia also made the tournament. A total of...

Fall Registration Begins for Fairfield Soccer FC

Soccer Club Become Official As many of you may have known, Fairfield Soccer FC was on a provisional trial and as of July 9, 2017 we are official. This means that we are now our own entity under the North Texas Soccer Association. Since we have started our journey three years ago, with nothing but a few goals, we have grown tremendously. Thanks to our parents, supporters, and our mayor. We have changed fields around, gained a board that is passionate, brought in some great referees, pushed for a fence to be built, and replaced some goals. We want to build or buy a concession stand, bring in tournaments and other cities to bring in awareness to soccer in our city, and bring in more economy to our businesses and our hotels. We also want to replace some nets, build more goals, have a big open ceremony, pay referees, and push for a record in sign-ups. We cannot do any of this without the help of our city and the surrounding businesses. To help us reach our goals, we have added many different opportunities to sponsor our association. You can sponsor a team from $150 to $1000. You can sponsor our concession stand with a donation of $300 to buying the whole thing at $3000. You can sponsor our fields by donating $50 to $150. Depending on the amount...
