Billie Corene Melvin, 49, of Wortham, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 at her residence.

Funeral services were held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Capps Memorial Chapel with Bro. Stephen Davenport officiating.

Interment followed at Lake Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ralph Pfleeger, James Pfleeger, Derek Scott, Mike Adams, Dillan Burgess and Ronnie Drake, Jr.  Honorary pallbearer was Michael Crockett.

Billie was born March 24, 1968 in Richton, Mississippi to parents Grover and Elizabeth Miller Melvin.

She had been a Fairfield resident since 1975 and was a 1986 graduate of Fairfield High School.  She was a graduate of the cosmetology program at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens.

Billie worked as a hair stylist out of her home and New Image Salon in Fairfield.  She was also at one time a dispatcher for the Fairfield Police Department.

Billie loved the outdoors and fishing.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth on April 4, 2015.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Amanda Burgess and husband Dillan of Ft. Hood, TX; her father, Grover Melvin, Sr. of Fairfield; two brothers, Eric Melvin of Fairfield; Grover Melvin, Jr. of Tennessee; one sister, Margaret Melvin of Mexia; a grandmother, Bobbie Hinton of Mississippi; her fiancé, Tomas Echartea of Wortham and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
