Lions Dominate Elks 44-7

The Teague Lions built a big halftime lead and dominated the Elkhart Elks at James Ives Memorial Stadium in Elkhart. Teague rolled up big yardage and held the Elkhart offense in check the entire night.  The offense used the big play and superior speed to run past the Elks on their way to a district victory. Bulldogs Drop Home Game 36-6

The Wortham Bulldogs trailed 22-6 at the half and the Timpson Bears closed out their district opener Friday night at Bulldog Stadium. The Bears got on the board early when their 82-yard drive had nothing but first down plays.  A couple of passes for 18 and 12 yard each, and a 15-yard run set up a 22-yard touchdown run by Jon Grogan.  The two-point conversion was good and the Bears led 8-0. Lions Get Key District Road Win 28-14

The Teague Lions defense held in the final minutes to win their first district game with a 28-14 win over the Eustace Bulldogs at Bulldog Stadium in Eustace. The Lion defense played outstanding all night.  Trevor Cooper and the rest of the defensive line kept the Eustace offense off the board for three and a half quarters. Eagles Battle, But Fall 21-14

The Fairfield Eagles put a scare into the state ranked China Spring Cougars only to fall to them 21-14 Friday night in China Spring. The Eagles went into the game as a heavy underdog.  With replacement quarterback Chad Rushin, in for an injured Kam Ransom, the Eagles did not miss a beat and had 154 yards in the first half against the favorite China Spring Cougars. Bulldogs Lose First Game in Shootout 41-34

The Wortham Bulldogs had chances to remain unbeaten but fell short to the Granger Lions on the road Friday night 41-34. Senior running back Stephon Ester returned to the Bulldog backfield following an injury two weeks ago and he did not disappoint. Ester carried 33 times for 250 yards and three touchdowns in the loss. He is only 83 yards short of 1000 for the season heading into district play.
