Teague Lions Cruise to Impressive 57-7 Win

The Teague Lions needed an easy way to get to the bye week.  The Dublin Lions were just the right medicine for the week. Tayvis Coleman had 133 yards rushing and the Dublin Lions were held to negative yardage in a 57-7 win at Crusader Stadium on the campus of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. The Lions rested several key players but still built a 28-7 lead and tallied 22 point in the final quarter to finish strong in the game. Bulldogs Winning Streak Continues 38-21

The Wortham Bulldogs have not been 3-0 since the varsity players were alive…The year was 1998 and now 2017. Wortham was 10-0 that year but this Bulldog team is beginning to make waves in Central Texas with a dominating win over the Rosebud-Lott Cougars. Eagles Hold On For First Win 27-24

The Fairfield Eagles scored a late touchdown and held onto to defeat the Athens Hornets 27-24 at Bruce Field on Friday night. The Eagles (1-1), coming off a lopsided loss to the LaVega Pirates last week, jumped out to another lead and made it hold up.  Athens came back and took a slim lead but the Eagles answered. Teague Beats Mexia in Overtime 40-33

Sometimes when forty-eight minutes is not enough, the play goes on.  The Teague Lions made good use of the time to hang onto a 40-33 overtime win over the Mexia Blackcats. Before the game, the teams met at midfield to present gifts for the Chris Parks scholarship fund.  Teague High School contributed $3000 and Mexia High School added $1750 to the Parks family.  Chris Parks was a part of both coaching staffs in Teague and Mexia for 23 seasons. Wortham Bulldogs Offense Takes Care of Cayuga Wildcats 40-28

The Wortham Bulldogs scored two touchdowns in the second quarter to build and lead and cruise to a 40-28 win over the Cayuga Wildcats and begin the season 2-0. The Wortham offense benefitted from a huge night from running back Stephon Ester (below).  He carried 26 times for 213 and rushed for two touchdowns and caught another.
