Eagle Track Team Shines in Palestine Meet

The Fairfield Eagle track teams took a district title and a runner up position at the District 18-4A meet at Palestine High School last week.  The top four finishers in each event move onto the area meet in Lorena on Wednesday. Da’Meka Shed (Pictured at top) advanced as the winner in both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles.  She finished ahead of Chloe Olvera of Madisonville in both events. Kaitlynn Judd finished fourth in the 300 hurdles.  Shed also finished second in the triple jump and was only three inches from the winning jump from Dominique Lacy of Palestine....

County Track Teams Compete in District Meet

Teague and Wortham track teams competed in district and several advanced to the area meets.  Teague will host the area meet and Wortham teams will travel to Riesel for their next competition Jaylon Davis and Tayvis Coleman took the top two spots in the triple jump and were separated by a half inch.  Davis also finished second in the 400-meter dash. Marcus Williams won the shot put and finished second in the discus.  Daniels finished second in 100 meter hurdles.  McQuirter took a third-place finish in the 300 hurdles. The Teague 4×200 relay of Patrick, Coleman, Jewell and Heard won the district title with a photo finish over Elkhart.  The mile relay team finished second and the sprint relay finished third. Daniels took a fourth-place finish in the high jump. Angel finished fourth in the 3200-meter run and third in the mile. McNett finished fourth in the 800-meter run. Aguilera dominated the 3200-meter run with a 35 second win over Salley of Leon.  She had an equally easy time in the mile with a big first place finish and Arrezola finished fourth. The Teague sprint relay finished third and fourth in the 4×200.  The mile relay also qualified for area with a fourth-place finish. Bulldogs Improve Playoff Position

The Wortham Bulldogs have won four games in a row and continue to improve in the baseball standings this spring. The edged out a 5-1 win in Dawson on Friday lead the Dawson Bulldogs by a game and a half with two games remaining. Braxton Whaley pitched six strong innings and has a pair of singles and a walk with two rbi in the win.  Cole Shivers reached base three times and scored two runs  Ethan McCosllin added an rbi in the fifth inning to cushion the lead. Mart and Riesel sit on top of the district standings.  The Indians have two district losses and both of them are to Wortham. Wortham hosts Coolidge on Tuesday and travels to Mount Calm on Friday and then it faces district leading Mart at home on April...

Good Showing by Fairfield Tennis Team

The Fairfield Eagles tennis team has performed well with tournaments in Madisonville and Iredell. Braden Bossier took second for the Junior Varsity in Madisonville and the team of Evan Jameson and Noah Van took second in boys doubles play The district tournament was held April 3rd and Fairfield took second in the boys division and overall team standings. Lady Eagles Softball Victorious Over Madisonville

The Fairfield Lady Eagles grabbed an early lead on its way to a 15-2 victory over Madisonville on Friday. Fairfield scored on a single by Banner Monico a single by Lauran Adcock, and a double by Meaghan Peterson in the first inning. Madisonville took an early lead in the first inning. With one out in the first inning Jai Serguiff drove in one run when she singled. Fairfield took the lead for good with three runs in the first inning. In the first Banner Monico singled off of Brooke Gatlin, driving in one run, Lauran Adcock singled off of Gatlin, driving in one run, and Meaghan Peterson doubled off of Gatlin, driving in one run. Fairfield Lady Eagles 2017 scored seven runs in the fourth inning. Fairfield Lady Eagles 2017 scored on a triple by Peterson, a walk by Rebecca Dunlap, a walk by Margo Measles, and a error. Abby Garcia earned the win for the Fairfield. She pitched four innings, giving up one run, five hits, striking out one, and walking none.
