Local Doctor Earns Prestigious Certification

Physical Therapist, Dr. Ray Devanna of Lott’s Physical Therapy of Fairfield is now a certified McKenzie therapist, an honor only 2% of Physical Therapists in the Nation hold. To earn this certification, Dr. Devanna spent more than a year of studying, onsite training, and a comprehensive written and hands-on examination. The McKenzie Method is a reliable assessment process intended for all musculoskeletal problems, including pain in the back, neck, and extremities, as well as issues associated with sciatica, sacroiliac joint pain, arthritis, degenerative disc disease, muscle spasms, and intermittent numbness in hands or feet. Developed by the world-renowned expert physiotherapist Robin McKenzie in the 1950’s, this well researched, exercise based approach of assessment, diagnosis and treatment uses a comprehensive and clinically reasoned evaluation of patients without the use of expensive diagnostic imaging such as x-rays and MRIs. The treatment principles of the McKenzie Method promote the body’s potential to repair itself and do not involve the use of medication, heat, cold, ultrasound, needles, or surgery; but allows patients to learn the principles and empower them to be in control of their own symptom management, which can reduce dependency on medical intervention. In addition to this prestigious accomplishment, Dr. Devanna’s credentials include the following: –Bachelor’s of science in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Athletic Training from Abilene Christian University –Outstanding Student Athletic Trainer Award in 2006 from Abilene Christian...
