NUTS!  NUTS!!  NUTS!!

The United Methodist Women of First United Methodist Church, 201 N. Mount Street, Fairfield is selling fresh shelled pecan halves – 16 ounces for only $14. The funds generated will be targeted for local mission needs.  The pecans are great for baking or gifts!  See recipes below.

Toasted Pecans

Ingredients:      
–½ cup butter
–1 pound pecan halves
–1 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions:  Melt butter.  Toss pecans with butter.  Place in oven preheated 275F.  Toast for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.  Salt to your liking.  Store in airtight container.  Ok to freeze.


Glazed Pecans

Ingredients:
–1 cup sugar
–1/2 cup sour cream
–1 pound pecan halves

Instructions:  Whisk sugar & sour cream in 4-qt saucepan until smooth; bring to a boil.  Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is bubbling & thick, about 5 minutes.  Remove from heat; stir in pecan halves until well coated.  Spread on baking sheet lined with parchment paper; let cool completely.  Break into bite-size pieces before serving.
